About SP4 files

An .SP4 file is a proprietary project file used to store 2D and 3D floor plans, office layouts, and space planning data. It is primarily created and managed by specialized software like Configura CET Designer or SmartDraw. Occasionally, it is also used as a legacy SuperCard 4 Player Project file. These files are highly proprietary and contain complex structural data rather than flat graphics. This presents a major disadvantage for collaboration: you cannot simply open an .SP4 file in a web browser, a standard image viewer, or a basic text editor. If a client sends you an .SP4 file, you typically need an active, expensive software subscription just to view the proposed space plan. Users almost always need to convert .SP4 files into accessible formats like PDF for document sharing, JPG or PNG for quick visual reviews, or DWG for architects using AutoCAD. However, because .SP4 is a closed project format, standard online converters fail to process it. Only the original software can properly parse the proprietary 3D data and generate an accurate visual export.
