The .SLL file extension primarily represents either a Visual Smalltalk Library used by Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS, or a Smart Label Layout file utilized by Seiko and Dymo LabelWriter hardware. Developers use Cincom Smalltalk to manage the code libraries, while everyday users encounter .SLL files when saving thermal shipping or barcode labels.
Users frequently need to convert .SLL label files because the format is highly proprietary and fundamentally useless to anyone without the specific printer software installed. Sharing a label design with a client or manufacturer is impossible natively. Code library variants pose a different challenge, as they are compiled binary data inaccessible to standard text editors.
