About SKA files
The .SKA extension serves two distinct, proprietary purposes that often confuse users.
CryEngine Skeletal Animation: Most commonly encountered by game developers and modders, this file contains Skeletal Animation data for the CryEngine game engine. It stores the bone hierarchy and motion data required to animate 3D characters. Unlike standard video files, you cannot double-click these to watch them. They are strictly raw coordinate data referenced by the game engine during runtime. Users often try to convert these to MP4 or AVI, but this is impossible without first rendering the scene inside the engine. For editing, the file must be imported into 3D suites like Autodesk 3ds Max or Maya using specific plugins, then exported to exchange formats like FBX or DAE.
SK-Armarios Design File: In the interior design sector, .SKA files are configuration files for SK-Armarios, a specialized closet design software by Diseno3D. These files hold parametric data - dimensions, shelf placements, and material codes - rather than a visual image. A common friction point is sharing these designs with clients who cannot open the file. The practical workaround is to open the file in the original software and "print" the design to PDF or export a visual render to JPG for easy viewing.
