About SFP files
The .SFP file extension has multiple highly specific, unrelated uses. The most common modern use is as a Brazilian social security data file utilized by the Caixa Econômica Federal SEFIP system. These government files are essentially ZIP archives containing structured payroll and tax declarations. A secondary, older use is the HP LaserJet Soft Font file, which acts as a PCL (Printer Command Language) container used to send downloadable typography directly to legacy printers manufactured by HP and Troy Group Inc. Other niche uses include BESA EEG sensor position files, PlayStation game asset packages, and Golden Software Surfer plot files.
Users frequently need to convert .SFP files because they are proprietary and deeply tied to specialized hardware or localized ecosystems. SEFIP files require outdated localized government software to read properly, while HP soft fonts are completely unrecognized by modern OS font managers like Windows Font Viewer or macOS Font Book. The primary disadvantage of the .SFP format is its extreme fragmentation; without knowing the source software, the file appears as unusable raw data.
For a Brazilian government .SFP file, the best conversion target is a ZIP archive. By extracting the archive, you can access the raw TXT data inside, though you lose the automated SEFIP workflow. For HP Soft Fonts, converting to a TTF (TrueType) or OTF (OpenType) font is necessary to use the typography in modern design software like Adobe Illustrator, though legacy printer-routing metadata will be lost.
This file format is difficult to open or convert because it represents at least six entirely different data structures. Standard online converters fail to process it because they cannot guess which variant you uploaded. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like a standard ZIP container - viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SFP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SFP file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use SEFIP or similar software from the "Social Security Data Archives" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to SFP, try SEFIP or another comparable tool in the "Social Security Data Archives" category.
The SFP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SFP converter.
