About SCRIPT files
The .SCRIPT file extension is a generic container used by diverse applications, creating a significant challenge for users attempting to open or edit them. The most common varieties include game data files for titles like Titan Quest (developed by Iron Lore Entertainment) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R., terminal session transcripts created by the Unixscript command, and database definition files for HSQLDB.
Because this format is ambiguous, operating systems rarely assign a default application, leaving users staring at an "Open With" dialog. While many .SCRIPT files are plain text - containing Lua code, SQL commands, or shell logs - others, like those from Titan Quest, may be binary or encrypted, appearing as illegible garbage in standard editors. This lack of standardization makes direct editing risky and compatibility poor across devices.
For accessibility and archiving, we recommend converting text-based .SCRIPT files to TXT for universal viewing, PDF for uneditable archiving of terminal logs, or SQL for database restoration. If the file contains game logic, converting to LUA often enables syntax highlighting in code editors like VS Code.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SCRIPT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SCRIPT file to AUDIO, VIDEO, TEXT, PDF, EXE, MSI, APP, DMG, DEB, RPM, PKG or RUN, you can use Notepad++ or similar software from the "Script or Game Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert JAR, APP, SCR, IPA, COM, AAB, PS1, DMG, VBS, EXE, XAPK or MSI files to SCRIPT, try Notepad++ or another comparable tool in the "Script or Game Data" category.
The SCRIPT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SCRIPT converter.
