About SCREEN files

The .SCREEN file extension is highly fragmented and used by entirely different systems for completely different purposes. Most commonly, it is an Android TV screenshot file. Although it stores standard JFIF (JPEG) image data, the unusual extension prevents default photo viewers from opening it. Another major use is as a screen wireframe file in WireframeSketcher, where it stores user interface layouts in raw XML format. Other rare uses include digital signage templates packaged as ZIP files for Jumbotron displays, spectrum analyzer data from Signal Hound, or cached screenshots from Skype and TechSmith Jing. The main disadvantage of the .SCREEN format is its severe lack of standardization. Because it can be a raster image, an XML text document, or a ZIP archive, operating systems do not know which application to use. Sharing these files directly almost always confuses recipients. Standard online converters usually fail because they blindly rely on the file extension rather than analyzing the actual file contents. If you have a wireframe layout, sharing the raw .SCREEN file forces your client to buy or install a specific proprietary plugin to view it. You should convert your .SCREEN files to universal formats to make them actually usable. Android TV screenshots should be converted to .JPG or .PNG images. Wireframe layouts should be exported as .PDF documents so anyone can view the design without specialized software. Because this format is so inconsistent, it is difficult to open or convert predictably. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the structured data. Our tool can identify the file format, inspect the file, and show internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SCREEN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SCREENING, PNG, MP4, JPEG, PDF, JPG, DOCX, LOCKED, GVI, BBX and TEXT files.
