About SAH files

The .SAH file extension primarily serves two highly specialized, proprietary purposes. Most commonly, it is an encrypted educational video lecture utilized by the Indian e-learning platform Study At Home (developed by Hoven). Alternatively, it functions as a game data archive file that stores 3D assets, textures, and sounds for MMORPGs like Shaiya and Ragnarok Online. Historically, it was also used to store raw radio telescope data for UC Berkeley's SETI@home distributed computing project.

The current formats present severe limitations for standard users. .SAH video lectures employ strict Digital Rights Management (DRM) to prevent piracy. This means they require a valid purchased license, specific hardware IDs, and the proprietary player to open. You cannot play them in standard media software like VLC media player. Game archives are closed container formats paired with SAF files, hiding game assets behind proprietary packing algorithms that standard extraction tools cannot read.

Users typically want to convert .SAH videos to standard MP4 or MKV for offline viewing on mobile devices, or extract the game archive to ZIP to access the internal graphics for modding.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it is intentionally closed and encrypted. Often, only the original software can properly read, decrypt, or export the data. Standard online converters fail because they lack the decryption keys or the specific game-engine unpacking algorithms. However, convert.guru offers a pragmatic workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the exact format version, view its internal structure, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects standard embedded media inside an unencrypted archive, extraction to common formats is possible. If we detect strict DRM, we will save you time by confirming it cannot be legally bypassed.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SAH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted WEBM, AVA and STACK files.

The SAH Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SAH converter.
