1. PopCap Games Archive (12%): Most commonly, this is a proprietary container used by classic PopCap Games titles like Bejeweled or Zuma. It acts like a ZIP file, bundling game assets (music, sound effects, sprites) into a single blob to prevent casual tampering. You cannot open these in standard archivers like 7-Zip because they often use custom encryption or XOR scrambling.
2. Saints Row Audio (7%): In games developed by Volition, such as Saints Row 2, the .saf file stores raw audio streams (voiceovers, music), often paired with a sah (header) file. These are not standard MP3s; they are interleaved audio containers optimized for the game engine. Users typically want to convert these to WAV or MP3 for listening or modding.
3. DeLorme Street Atlas (6%): Older versions of DeLorme mapping software used this format for vector map layers and user-created routes. Since DeLorme was acquired by Garmin and the software discontinued, these files are effectively "locked" data unless converted to modern standards like GPX or KML for use in Google Earth.
