Convert RXE to another file type
To convert RXE files to another format, you need LEGO Mindstorms NXT or other Executable software.
Convert a file to RXE
To convert other file formats to the "Robotics Program File" file type, you need software like LEGO Mindstorms NXT or a similar tool.
About RXE files
The .RXE file is primarily a compiled executable program used by the LEGO Mindstorms NXT robotics system. It contains the machine-readable instructions that run directly on the NXT Intelligent Brick. Alternatively, in professional surveying, an .RXE file serves as a raw data container for Leica Geosystems total stations or as an oscilloscope data file for Agilent equipment.
You can natively transfer robotics files using the LEGO Mindstorms Education NXT Software. For surveying data, specialized desktop software from Leica Geosystems is required to parse the raw measurements.
A common disadvantage for users is discovering they only have the .RXE file saved. For LEGO users, this is a "read-only" compiled binary format that cannot be easily converted back into visual flowcharts or source code (RBT or .RBTX) for editing. It is strictly built for execution on the hardware, similar to an EXE on Windows. Surveyors face a similar proprietary lock-in, as Leica raw data is completely incompatible with standard CAD software out of the box.
For surveying data, conversion to CSV, DXF, or TXT is highly recommended to enable import into AutoCAD or GIS platforms. For robotics programs, there are no viable target formats for decompilation.
The .RXE format is highly difficult to open because it relies entirely on the closed, proprietary ecosystem of its respective hardware. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Standard online converters fail to process it. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the binary payload, and extract readable text or internal hex content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or partial data extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RXE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RXE file to EXE, MSI, APP, DMG, DEB, RPM, PKG, RUN, SH, BAT, CMD or COM, you can use LEGO Mindstorms NXT or similar software from the "Robotics Executable Program" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert JAR, APP, SCR, IPA, COM, AAB, PS1, DMG, VBS, EXE, XAPK or MSI files to RXE, try LEGO Mindstorms NXT or another comparable tool in the "Robotics Executable Program" category.
The RXE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RXE converter.
