The .RV4 file is an event and room layout diagram created by Room Viewer software. Event planners use these files to map out floor plans, seating arrangements, and equipment placements. Structurally, the file relies on the Microsoft Compound format, acting as a mini file system that stores multiple data streams inside a single container.
The main disadvantage of the .RV4 format is its proprietary nature. It requires specialized software to open and edit. You cannot open these files natively on Windows, macOS, or mobile devices, nor can you view them in a web browser. If you do not have access to Room Viewer, the file is inaccessible. Sharing these files with clients or vendors is difficult because they will also lack the software required to open them.
To share these floor plans, you must convert .RV4 files to standard formats like PDF, JPG, or PNG.
