About RSG files
The .RSG file extension is heavily fragmented and is primarily used to store game saves, player progress, scenarios, or packaged resource streams. The most common creators of these files are Exanima by Bare Mettle Entertainment, RimWorld by Ludeon Studios, and older titles from PopCap Games. Some .RSG files also function as RaySupreme Graph files by BrainDistrict GmbH or schedule generation files formatted in XML. The massive disadvantage of the .RSG format is its complete lack of standardization. Every game engine encodes these files differently. While some are readable JSON or XML text files, most are fully compiled proprietary binaries. This means you cannot simply open them in a standard text editor without seeing scrambled characters, and standard converters cannot process them because they lack the specific logic of the original game engine. Converting an .RSG file to a standard format like .TXT or .JSON is highly dependent on the source software. You usually need the original game engine or specific community modding tools to read or export the data safely. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RSG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RSG file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use Exanima or similar software from the "Game Save or Data File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to RSG, try Exanima or another comparable tool in the "Game Save or Data File" category.
The RSG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RSG converter.
