About RLV files

The .RLV extension is a chaotic identifier shared by three distinct types of proprietary files, most commonly associated with raw video streams found in mobile cache folders.

  1. DJI & Camera Cache: The most frequent source is the DJI GO 4 app or Google Camera cache. These files are often 'live view' video buffers created while recording. They are essentially MP4 streams lacking the final 'end-of-file' headers, meaning standard players like Windows Media Player treat them as corrupted. Users typically encounter these when trying to recover footage from a crashed drone or a corrupted SD card.
  2. Tacx Real Life Video: Legacy cycling simulation software (now owned by Garmin) uses .RLV files to synchronize video playback with trainer resistance data. These are proprietary and locked to the training software.
  3. Data Logs: A smaller subset are text-based logs from ABACOM RealView or heat cost allocators.

Because these files are often incomplete video fragments or proprietary datasets, they rarely open with a double-click. For the video variants (DJI/Google), the most pragmatic solution is to attempt 'fixing' the container by converting to a standard MP4 or MOV.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RLV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
