Extract text from QRF files

To convert other file formats to the "Survey Report Definition" file type, you need software like Qualtrics XM or a similar tool.
A .QRF file is a Qualtrics Report File, a proprietary JSON-based format used by Qualtrics XM to save the structure, layout, and visualization settings of a survey report. It acts as a template or blueprint - defining which charts, tables, and filters appear on the page - rather than containing the raw response data itself. Users typically encounter these files when exporting a report definition to share with a colleague or to back up a specific layout configuration.
The main problem is that .QRF files cannot be opened by standard office software like Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat. Because the file is strictly a set of JSON instructions intended for the Qualtrics engine, double-clicking it on a desktop will likely result in an error or open a confusing text stream of code. To view the actual report as intended (with charts and data), you must import the file back into the Qualtrics platform. From there, you can generate and download the final readable version in formats like PDF for archiving or DOCX for further editing.
