About QPL files
The .qpl extension is a classic example of a filename collision, utilized by three completely different software ecosystems, creating significant confusion for users.
Most commonly (approx. 32%), a .qpl file is a Quantity Takeoff project generated by Quick Devis, a specialized estimation tool for the construction industry. These files contain critical cost data, material lists, and project structures. They are proprietary, meaning you cannot open them in standard spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel without first exporting them from the original software. Users often struggle when trying to share these estimates with clients who do not own a Quick Devis license. For this use case, the ideal workflow is converting the internal data to XLSX for analysis or PDF for immutable reporting.
Alternatively, a .qpl file may be a QuickPlaylist created by SMPlayer. These are lightweight text files that store a list of audio or video file locations, not the media itself. A common frustration occurs when users try to "convert" this file to MP4 or MP3, realizing too late that the file only contains file paths (text), not audio/video data. For media players, the best conversion target is the universally supported M3U format.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QPL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert QPL file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Quick Devis or similar software from the "Quantity Takeoff Project" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to QPL, try Quick Devis or another comparable tool in the "Quantity Takeoff Project" category.
The QPL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QPL converter.
