About QHF files

The .qhf file is primarily used to store instant messaging history for QIP (Quiet Internet Pager), a legacy multi-protocol IM client once popular in Eastern Europe. In rare instances, the extension is also used for financial data files by Quicken.

Historically, users needed the official QIP Infium client or specialized third-party log readers to view the contents. This presents a major disadvantage today because .qhf is a closed, proprietary binary format. It is not a plain text file. You cannot simply open it in a web browser or a standard text editor without seeing garbled, unreadable characters. Furthermore, since QIP is virtually defunct, finding a safe download for the original software is a massive inconvenience and a potential security risk for users who just want to read an old chat.

The best conversion targets for .qhf files are standard, universal text formats like TXT, CSV, or HTML. Converting to these formats makes the chat logs universally readable, searchable, and independent of legacy software. Be aware that during extraction, you may lose specific visual formatting, emojis, or precise timestamp structures depending on the extraction method used.

Because it is an undocumented proprietary format, standard online converters completely fail to process it. Only the original software or dedicated parser scripts can accurately read the encoded data. Our platform can inspect the binary file and show raw text strings. If our analysis detects an extractable underlying text structure, viewing or partial conversion of your messaging history may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your QHF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TXT, VBO, XLOG and CLOG files.
