A .clog file is primarily a Client Log file used by the War Thunder game engine developed by Gaijin Entertainment. It can also be a legacy phone call log backup created by the discontinued Nokia PC Suite. Additionally, it is used by the Academy Color Encoding System (ACES) as a compressed log, and by MediaTek for wireless chipset firmware logs.
War Thunder .clog files are extremely restrictive. They are binary-encoded, often compressed, and practically impossible to read using standard text editors like Notepad. Users generate them specifically for submitting bug reports on crashes, but cannot easily inspect the contents to understand the errors themselves. Similarly, Nokia .clog files use UTF-16 (LE) encoding with a proprietary structural formatting that modern smartphones completely reject.
