About QPH files
The .QPH file extension represents two distinct file types: a Qt Phrase Book or a Quicken Price History file. Qt Phrase Books are used by Qt Linguist to store glossaries of common translations for software localization. These files are saved in an XML format, making them readable but tedious to parse for non-developers. Quicken Price History files are generated by Quicken, originally developed by Intuit. They store historical stock and mutual fund prices used to calculate investment portfolio performance.
Both variations of the .QPH format present significant disadvantages. The Qt version traps localization data in a niche software ecosystem, forcing translators to use specific developer tools instead of standard spreadsheet or localization software. The Quicken version is highly restrictive, proprietary, and historically locked to legacy versions of the software. This prevents users from easily migrating their financial data to modern tracking tools like Moneydance or web-based financial platforms.
Users typically need to convert .QPH files to standard, open formats to regain control of their data. For Qt glossaries, target formats like CSV, PO, or TS are ideal for sharing with external translation agencies. For Quicken files, exporting to CSV or QIF is necessary to migrate financial histories, though custom formatting and proprietary metadata are often lost during the export.
Standard online converters usually fail with .QPH files. Qt files require XML parsers that understand the specific phrase book schema, while Quicken files use closed, undocumented data structures that only the original software can correctly read.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QPH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert QPH file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use Qt Linguist or similar software from the "Localization & Financial Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to QPH, try Qt Linguist or another comparable tool in the "Localization & Financial Data Storage" category.
The QPH Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QPH converter.
