About QD files
A .qd file is primarily associated with mobile application data storage, most frequently appearing as a cached chapter file for the Qidian (Webnovel) e-reading app or a user data database for Tencent QQ.
For Qidian users, these files are generated on Android devices to store offline book content. The problem is that they are raw JSON data fragments, not standard EPUB or PDF documents. You cannot open them directly in Kindle or Microsoft Word; they usually appear as garbled text interspersed with code when opened in a standard editor. To make them readable, they must be parsed and converted to TXT.
In the context of Tencent QQ, the .qd file functions as a SQLite database storing chat logs, friend lists, or local user configuration. These are binary files that require a database viewer or forensic tool to inspect. Users run into issues when trying to recover chat history or transfer data between devices, as the format is proprietary to the QQ application and not recognized by standard backup tools.
A less common variation (approx. 7%) includes firmware update files for ALI Corp satellite receiver chipsets or legacy data files for Quicken financial software. For archiving and access, the best conversion target is TXT for e-books or CSV/SQL for database content.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The QD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QD converter.
