About PZL files
A .PZL file is primarily a game data file associated with various digital jigsaw puzzle applications, most notably Puzzles Iku and Yadabyte Jigsaw Puzzles. These files function as proprietary containers that store the state of a puzzle, including the source image, the specific cut pattern of the pieces, and the current progress of the user (which pieces are locked or floating).
A common issue for users is the rigid software dependency; a .PZL file created in one program is rarely compatible with another, and the file cannot be viewed natively in standard image viewers like Microsoft Photos or web browsers. Furthermore, many of the applications that generated these files are now legacy software, making it difficult to access the content on modern operating systems without emulation or specific old binaries. Users typically look to convert these files to recover the embedded artwork as a standard JPG or PNG image, or to archive the puzzle data in a more accessible format. While the interactive game state is often lost during conversion, extracting the visual assets allows the image to be preserved and viewed on any device.

The PZL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PZL converter.
