About PXY files
The .PXY file extension primarily acts as a Geospatial coordinate point file utilized by Vianova GeoSuite and AutoGRAF. These files store raw XYZ coordinate data essential for civil engineering, surveying, and 3D terrain modeling. Alternatively, .PXY files function as photo editor project files generated by the PicSay Photo Editor.
The main disadvantage of a geospatial .PXY file is its highly proprietary nature. Standard, open-source GIS tools like QGIS may not natively recognize the .PXY extension without a custom text-import mapping, causing workflow bottlenecks. PicSay .PXY files suffer from similar limitations; they are proprietary binary project files containing unflattened image layers and specific edits. This means they cannot be viewed in web browsers, embedded in documents, or opened by standard image viewers. You are entirely locked into the PicSay ecosystem.
To ensure compatibility, users typically need to convert geospatial .PXY files to universally accepted tabular formats like CSV or TXT, or into spatial formats like DXF and SHP. PicSay projects should be exported directly from the app to standard web formats like JPG or PNG for sharing, although this process inevitably flattens the image and strips away layer editability.
These proprietary formats are notoriously difficult for standard online converters to process because they lack open, standardized documentation. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the structured data. Our platform can inspect the file, extract raw ASCII text coordinates from geospatial versions, or reveal embedded data in image projects. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PXY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PXY file to MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, 3GP, OGV, ASF or RM, you can use Vianova GeoSuite or similar software from the "Coordinate Point Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MTS, MOV, RMVB, DIVX, RM, H264, TS, WMV, VOB, MP4, XVID or AVI files to PXY, try Vianova GeoSuite or another comparable tool in the "Coordinate Point Data Storage" category.
The PXY Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PXY converter.
