The .PXY file extension primarily acts as a Geospatial coordinate point file utilized by Vianova GeoSuite and AutoGRAF. These files store raw XYZ coordinate data essential for civil engineering, surveying, and 3D terrain modeling. Alternatively, .PXY files function as photo editor project files generated by the PicSay Photo Editor.
The main disadvantage of a geospatial .PXY file is its highly proprietary nature. Standard, open-source GIS tools like QGIS may not natively recognize the .PXY extension without a custom text-import mapping, causing workflow bottlenecks.
