Convert PXI to another file type

To convert PXI files to another format, you need Cython or other Developer software.

Convert a file to PXI

To convert other file formats to the "Source Code Include File" file type, you need software like Cython or a similar tool.

About PXI files

A .PXI file primarily functions as a Cython Include Source File. Developers use the Cython programming language to write code that translates Python directly into C or C++ for massive performance gains. The .PXI file acts exactly like a C header file. It stores declarations, shared functions, and macros that developers inject into multiple PYX modules using the include statement. The format was originally created for Pyrex, the direct predecessor to Cython.

While they contain plain text at their core, .PXI files are not directly executable. They lack standalone utility without a larger Cython project structure and must be compiled into C or CPP files before execution. Because they are code fragments, viewing them requires a text editor or a specialized IDE.

Alternatively, a .PXI file can be a proprietary project file generated by Tech4Learning Pixie, an educational creativity software, or a Presenter XML Interactive file used by Proloquo2Go. Less commonly, they are obsolete disc images created by PlexTools. These alternative variants introduce severe limitations. Pixie files lock users into paid software licenses. PlexTools images cannot be mounted natively by modern operating systems like Windows 11 or macOS.

To overcome these strict limitations, you need to convert your files. For Cython scripts, convert them to PY, C, or TXT for universal code viewing and sharing. For Tech4Learning Pixie projects, convert the content to PDF or PNG so external users can view the work on standard web browsers. For legacy disc images, converting to the standard ISO format is mandatory for compatibility with modern virtual drives. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PXI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PYX, HX and CLJ files.

The PXI Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PXI converter.
