About PTV files
A .ptv file typically represents a project file, not a playable video or image, which is a major drawback for users expecting immediate playback. Its most common origin is MemoriesOnTV by CodeJam, where the file acts as a proprietary save state referencing photos and music stored locally on your computer. If those source assets have been moved or deleted, the .ptv file cannot be rendered. Another frequent variation is a Kolor Panotour project file used for creating 360° virtual tours. Since Kolor closed in 2018, opening these files is difficult, though they are often ZIP archives containing XML data and source images. Less commonly, it is a specialized CCTV inspection video from PipeTech.
Conversion Recommendations:
For MemoriesOnTV: You generally cannot convert this directly online. You must open it in the original software and "Export" to MP4 or AVI.
For Panotour: Rename the extension from .ptv to zip to extract the source JPG panoramas.
For PipeTech: These are often proprietary video wrappers; conversion to standard MP4 is necessary for viewing in players like VLC.
