About PTK files

The .PTK file extension typically represents either a Quicken Online Financial Data file or a Puntotek Embroidery Design file. Financial .PTK files store banking transactions, account balances, and portfolio updates downloaded for the Quicken personal finance software. Alternatively, embroidery .PTK files store specialized machine stitch patterns, thread colors, and needle coordinates created using Puntotek digitizing software.

Both formats come with strict limitations. Quicken .PTK files are locked into the Intuit ecosystem, meaning you cannot natively share your transaction history with an accountant who uses Microsoft Excel or standard accounting platforms. Puntotek files are highly niche; you cannot preview the embroidery design on a standard computer or phone without purchasing their specific desktop software. Neither file type is supported by standard web browsers.

To solve these accessibility issues, conversion is required. Financial data is best exported to CSV for spreadsheet analysis or PDF for static, read-only reporting. Embroidery designs should be converted to universal machine formats like DST (Tajima) or PES (Brother), or to JPG and PNG simply to view the visual pattern.

However, both .PTK variations are closed, proprietary binary formats. This makes them extremely difficult to convert because standard online tools lack the specialized engines required to decode Intuit's financial data structures or Mediatek's stitch coordinates. Often, only the original software can correctly read or export the data. Our platform will inspect the file's internal structure, extract any readable text strings, and determine if an underlying format is present so you can finally understand what is inside.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PTK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
