About HFT files
The .HFT extension presents a unique challenge because it serves two distinct, proprietary ecosystems. Primarily, it functions as a Hangul Word Processor Template created by Hancom Office (the standard office suite in South Korea), acting as a blueprint for standard HWP documents. These files define layout, styles, and formatting but are notoriously difficult to open outside the specific Korean software environment. A secondary but significant use is as a HotDocs Form Template. In this context, the file contains the logic and structure for automated document generation used by legal and banking firms.
The Problem: Both formats are effectively "locked." A Hancom .HFT requires Hancom Office to render, while a HotDocs file needs the HotDocs player or assembler. They are not natively supported by web browsers, Microsoft Word, or standard PDF viewers.
The Solution: For most users, the goal is to view the underlying layout or extract text.
For Viewing/Archiving: Convert to PDF. This freezes the template's layout, ensuring you can see the form or document structure exactly as intended without missing fonts or broken tables.
For Editing: Convert to DOCX (Microsoft Word). While complex scripting in HotDocs files or specific Korean formatting in Hancom files may be lost, this allows you to salvage the text and basic formatting for repurposing.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HFT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert HFT file to INDD, QXP, PUB, PMD, PM6, PM7, PM8, PM9, PM10, PM11, OMP or P65, you can use Hancom Office or similar software from the "Word Processor Template" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MDI, PUB, PDP, PM4, P65, COMIC, WEBTEMPLATE, PMD, SPUB, INDD, PM5 or QXP files to HFT, try Hancom Office or another comparable tool in the "Word Processor Template" category.
The HFT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HFT converter.
