About PSG files

The .PSG file format is highly fragmented and serves several unrelated functions depending on the software that generated it. Most commonly, it is a graphic texture file used in Sony PlayStation 3 game development, an Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) Page Segment used by IBM mainframe printing systems to store logos and graphics, or a GLOSSA pseudocode source file used in Greek computer science education. It is also used by legacy software like Broderbund Print Shop Deluxe and modern engineering tools like PVsyst for photovoltaic grid projects. Opening a .PSG file is difficult because the extension gives no clear indication of its internal data structure. If it is a PS3 graphic, it is a proprietary, compressed texture format that standard image viewers cannot read. If it is an AFP Page Segment, you need expensive enterprise print management software or specialized IBM viewers to open it. GLOSSA files and PVsyst files are plain text, but double-clicking them will usually prompt an error in Windows or macOS. If you want to view a .PSG graphic, your goal is to convert it to a standard PNG or JPG format. For AFP Page Segments, converting to PDF is the most practical choice for sharing and printing. However, because these formats are closed and proprietary, standard online tools fail completely. They do not know which 'PSG' variant they are dealing with and crash. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format like plain text, GLOSSA code, or an embedded graphic, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PSG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
