About PSG files
PSG (Programmed Sound Generator) files are used to store music data for 8-bit computers such as the Commodore 64 and the Amstrad CPC. PSG files are not as popular as MIDI files, but they are still used to store music data for retro gaming. PSG files are not as versatile as MIDI files, and they cannot be used with modern music software.
PSG files can be converted to other formats using software such as PSG2MID and PSG2WAV. These programs can convert PSG files to MIDI, WAV, and other audio formats. PSG files can also be converted to other formats using Music Tracker software such as DefleMask and Schism Tracker.
When converting PSG files, it is important to consider the limitations of the format. PSG files can only store a limited amount of data, and the sound quality is not as good as other formats. Additionally, some PSG files may not be compatible with modern music software. This can make conversion difficult and time consuming.
Due to the limitations of PSG files, it is often easier to use an online website such as Convert.Guru to convert PSG files. Convert.Guru is free and easy to use, and it can quickly convert PSG files to other formats such as MIDI and WAV.
The PSG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began more than 25 years ago in California, when Tom Simondi published the most comprehensive database of file formats on his website. Before that, Tom had worked on Space Shuttle development at the Air Force Systems Command’s Space Division in Los Angeles. He is known as one of the top programmers of the late 1980s.
When Microsoft integrated Tom’s Filext database into Windows XP, it became the leading platform for analyzing and processing file types and formats.
Today, we use the latest technologies to analyze, process, and convert one of the world's largest collections of file formats. We are committed to developing the best PSG converter by continuously improving quality, usability, and reliability.
