To convert other file formats to the "Proxy Configuration File" file type, you need software like Proxifier or a similar tool.
The .PPX extension is a "chameleon" format that creates significant confusion because it is used by several unrelated applications. Most commonly (approx. 58%), it is a Proxifier Profile used by Proxifier to store network proxy rules, chains, and DNS settings. While these are technically XML text files, they are proprietary to the software; sending a .PPX file to a colleague who doesn't have Proxifier installed often results in them staring at raw code or an error message. To share these configurations for review without forcing an install, converting the internal structure to a standard TXT or XML format is the most pragmatic approach.
However, you may also be dealing with a "digital fossil": the Serif PagePlus Template. Serif discontinued the PagePlus line in 2017, effectively locking content inside proprietary .PPX (template) and PPP (publication) files. If you possess these legacy design assets, they are essentially unreadable by modern design tools like Adobe InDesign or Serif's own newer Affinity Publisher. The only reliable archival strategy is converting these templates to PDF to preserve the layout, or standard image formats like JPG or PNG for visual reference.
Less frequently, .PPX appears as a slide presentation created by WPS Office (formerly Kingsoft) or as a data report from IBM Cognos PowerPlay. In these cases, the file functions similarly to a Microsoft PPTX. The friction here is universal compatibility; proprietary slide formats often break formatting when opened in different suites. For these files, the best conversion target is PDF for viewing or standard PPTX for editing in Microsoft PowerPoint.
