About PMR files
The .PMR extension primarily identifies a project file created by MiTek PAMIR, a powerful CAD and engineering application used for designing roof trusses and Posi-Joists. These files are often ZIP-compressed containers holding the complete structural data, 3D models, and manufacturing cut lists. The main limitation users face is the strict proprietary lock-in; a .PMR file cannot be opened by standard CAD tools like AutoCAD or viewed by clients without the specific, licensed PAMIR environment. This makes sharing designs with architects or builders difficult. A secondary, equally common use of this extension is as a Persistent Media Record generated by Avid Media Composer. In this context, the file is merely a passive database index that tracks media linkages, not a playable video or audio file itself, leading to frustration when users attempt to "open" it. For MiTek designs, the best workflow is converting to PDF for universal viewing or exporting to DXF and DWG for broader CAD interoperability. For Avid users, the file is usually not converted but deleted to force the software to rebuild a corrupt media database.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PMR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PRN, PDF, PM1, PM! and PMU files.

The PMR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PMR converter.
