About PCA files

The .pca extension represents a collision of several distinct technical formats, most notably the Perfect Clarity Audio file and the CT Scan Acquisition Parameters file.

For media professionals, a .pca file is likely a proprietary lossless audio format developed by Sony Creative Software (now maintained by MAGIX). While it offers excellent fidelity for editing in software like Sound Forge, it is functionally useless for distribution. You cannot play these files on smartphones, web browsers, or standard media players like VLC. To make the audio accessible, you must convert it to a standard container like WAV (for archiving) or MP3 (for sharing).

Alternatively, in engineering and medical imaging fields, a .pca file stores acquisition settings for GE v|tome|x CT scanners and is utilized by Volume Graphics software like VGStudio Max. These files are essentially plain text or structured configuration data that dictate how a scan was performed. Users often struggle to view these without specific industrial software. Converting these settings files to TXT or PDF is the most pragmatic solution for documentation, auditing, and sharing parameters without requiring a license dongle. Other less common uses include Barracuda firewall backups and packet capture logs, which similarly suffer from proprietary lock-in.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PCA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PCAPNG, PCAP, CDR, VGD, VGL and UINT16_SCV files.
