The .ozt file extension is exclusively used as a game graphical texture file for the classic MMORPG MU Online, developed by Webzen. These files store the 2D visual skins applied to 3D models, user interface elements, and environmental assets within the game client.
Players and modders usually handle these files using specialized, community-made extraction tools. The major disadvantage of the .ozt format is that it is a proprietary, closed file type. You cannot open it natively in standard image editors like Adobe Photoshop or view it in a web browser. The developer designed these files with a custom 24-byte header to prevent casual tampering and unauthorized modifications to the game's assets.
Because of this proprietary lock-in, users frequently need to convert .ozt files into standard raster formats like TGA or PNG to edit them. Once modified, the files must be converted back to the .ozt format so the game engine can load them. Standard online image converters fail completely when trying to process these files because they do not understand the custom header.
