About OSR files
The .osr extension is most frequently associated with osu!, a popular free-to-play rhythm game. These files are Replay Data files, not video recordings. A common misconception is that an .osr file contains video footage that can be uploaded directly to YouTube or played in VLC Media Player. In reality, the file is a lightweight binary dataset (often under 100KB) containing keystrokes, cursor coordinates, and timing information compressed with LZMA. To watch the replay, the game engine must render these inputs in real-time. Because of this, you cannot simply "convert" an .osr to MP4 or AVI using a standard file converter. You must use specific rendering tools like osr2mp4 or record your screen while the replay plays inside the game.
In a corporate context, an .osr file may be a report generated by Oracle Hospitality OPERA (formerly MICROS), a property management system used by hotels. These files typically contain structured report data or print layouts (such as "OSR Landscape"). Unlike the game files, these are often proprietary data dumps or text-based definitions intended for internal use within the Oracle ecosystem. Users often struggle to open these without the original software, creating a need to convert them to universal formats like PDF or Excel (XLSX) for archiving and meeting reviews.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OSR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The OSR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OSR converter.
