About OSI files

The .OSI file extension is primarily associated with proprietary game data, specifically serving as the Game Save Information file for Overlord II and the Story Save file for Larian Studios games like Divinity: Original Sin.

For Overlord II players, this file acts as a binary container for progress, character stats, and world state. It is strictly proprietary, meaning standard text editors cannot open it, and attempting to modify it without a specialized hex editor often results in a corrupted save.

For Larian Studios titles utilizing the Osiris scripting engine (such as Baldur's Gate 3 or Divinity: Original Sin 2), the .OSI file compiles story logic and event triggers. Modders and developers frequently need to convert these files to readable TXT or XML formats to debug scripts or create mods. However, because these are compiled binary databases, they are incompatible with standard conversion tools like Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Word. For Overlord II saves, the file is best left converted only for backup purposes (e.g., to ZIP for storage) or edited with specific community-made save editors.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OSI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ESF, RWS and THEWITCHERSAVE files.
