The .OSI file is a proprietary game save and story state file. It is primarily utilized by the video game Overlord II to store player progress and world information. Additionally, it serves as a story save file generated by the Osiris scripting engine, heavily used by Larian Studios in their role-playing games. These files are highly specialized and permanently bound to their native game engines. The primary disadvantage of the .OSI format is its completely closed, binary nature. You cannot open these files in standard desktop applications, and they require the original video game to interpret the data. The files often contain compressed, unmapped binary data, which makes them rigid and highly prone to corruption if opened in a standard text editor.
