About ORD files
The .ORD file format is a highly fragmented extension primarily used to store order data. Depending on the industry, it functions as an electronic purchase order in EDI systems (like Transus), a CAD/CAM manufacturing cut file for garment production (Optitex, Gerber AccuMark), a waterjet cutter toolpath (FlowMaster), or even a print inspection order for Yellowfin BI.
Because it lacks any universal standard, opening an .ORD file is incredibly frustrating for end-users. It could be a simple UTF-8 text file, a disguised ZIP archive for CEWE Photoworld, or a proprietary compiled binary. Without expensive manufacturing software or properly configured EDI gateways, these files are virtually impossible to natively read. The format strictly locks data into specific vendor ecosystems, hindering modern collaboration.
To make the data accessible, converting the file is mandatory. For sharing financial or EDI order data, convert .ORD to CSV, XML, or XLSX. If dealing with an apparel or cabinetry cut order, extracting the vector data to DXF is necessary for cross-platform CAD compatibility. For long-term archiving of purchase histories, standardizing to PDF/A is recommended.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ORD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ORD file to OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D, STL, PLY or WRL, you can use FlowMaster or similar software from the "Data and Cutting Orders" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The ORD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ORD converter.
