About OPS files

The .OPS file extension has two distinct primary uses. First, it functions as a OnePlus Over-the-air (OTA) update file, containing firmware patches and full OS upgrades for Android devices running OxygenOS. Second, it is a legacy Office Profile Settings file used by Microsoft Office 2003 to store user interface preferences, custom toolbars, and application configurations.

The main disadvantage of the .OPS format is its highly specialized, proprietary nature. A OnePlus firmware package is an encrypted system archive meant exclusively for the device bootloader or the OxygenOS Updater. It cannot be opened by standard archive tools without specialized payload extraction scripts. Similarly, the Microsoft Office settings file is a binary configuration file that is completely useless outside of its obsolete native software ecosystem. Users often face challenges when trying to extract data from these files because they are not standard media or text formats.

Converting an .OPS file to standard document or media formats is typically impossible because these are system data files.
