About NMM files

A .nmm file is a memo backup created by the legacy Samsung Memo application (often referred to internally as NMemo). These files were typically generated on older devices like the Galaxy S2, S3, and S4, or created during backups using Samsung Kies and Samsung Smart Switch.

The primary challenge users face is that the .nmm format is a proprietary container - often a disguised ZIP archive containing XML data - that modern Android apps (like Samsung Notes) and Windows PCs cannot natively open. This creates a "digital lock-in" where valuable notes, shopping lists, and diaries remain trapped in an obsolete format. While you can sometimes manually rename the extension to ZIP to extract contents, the resulting XML files are cluttered with code tags. For the best experience, users should convert .nmm files to TXT for clean text extraction, PDF for archiving with formatting, or DOCX to edit the content in Microsoft Word.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NMM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ONE, NOTES, CNOTE, NM, MPA, PSI and NCM files.

The NMM Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NMM converter.
