About NML files
The .NML file extension is primarily associated with the Traktor Collection format used by Native Instruments Traktor Pro. This XML-based database serves as the backbone of a DJ's library, storing critical metadata such as beat grids, cue points, loops, BPM analysis, and playlist structures. While the file is technically human-readable text, its complex hierarchy makes it practically unusable outside of the Traktor ecosystem. DJs run into issues when attempting to migrate their libraries to other platforms like Rekordbox or Serato, as these competitors cannot natively open NML files. Additionally, simply moving your music files to a new hard drive can break the absolute file paths stored within the NML, resulting in "missing file" errors. For library management, converting NML to CSV or Excel allows for easy sorting and printing of tracklists. For software migration, converting to M3U or a generic XML format is often required to bridge the gap between different DJ environments. A secondary, less common use of the NML extension is for Apparel Pattern Files created by CODE-MODEL, which contain vector CAD data for clothing manufacturing.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted M3U, XML, M3U8, JFF, PTS and SAM files.
The NML Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NML converter.
