About NDG files
The .NDG file is a proprietary network diagram format created by Network Notepad. It stores vector layouts of network topology, equipment icons, text labels, and connection lines used by IT professionals to map out network infrastructure.
It is primarily opened and edited using Network Notepad, a specialized diagramming tool for Windows.
The main disadvantage of the .NDG format is its closed, highly specialized nature. You cannot share an .NDG file with clients or colleagues unless they also have the software installed. It is not supported by standard web browsers, document viewers, or basic image editors, which creates severe bottlenecks in communication and documentation workflows.
To share these diagrams universally, users typically need to export or convert them to standard formats like PDF, PNG, or SVG. However, direct external conversion often loses interactive elements, object metadata, or custom icon libraries.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert outside of Network Notepad because only the original software can properly interpret the proprietary connection logic and node data. Standard online converters usually fail and return errors.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NDG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The NDG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NDG converter.
