The .MRP file extension is a heavily fragmented format with several distinct uses. Primarily, it functions as a Synthesizer Program Preset File for Korg hardware, such as the Korg M3 Music Workstation or Electribe 2 Sampler. These files store parameter data like oscillator settings, filters, and modulation routing. Alternatively, .MRP files act as Feature Phone Application Packages executed via the MediaTek MAUI Runtime Environment on older mobile devices, or as UI/UX Prototype Project Files used by Wondershare Mockitt.
The main disadvantage of .MRP files is their highly proprietary and application-specific nature. A Korg preset cannot be opened without the specific hardware. MediaTek packages are effectively obsolete executables for non-smartphones, making them completely useless on modern Android or iOS devices without an emulator. Mockitt project files require an active subscription to access and edit natively. Standard converters fail to process .MRP files because they lack a single universal structure.
