About MPZ files
An .MPZ file is primarily a mobile map package used to store offline map data, routes, and waypoints. It is most commonly associated with MapPlus, a mobile GIS application developed by MioCool. Alternatively, it functions as a 2D CAD project file created by CADIX M-Draf software. The extension is also occasionally utilized by Miradi for project files and by the open-source game Red Eclipse for map environments. Users frequently need to convert .MPZ files because they are heavily tied to niche, proprietary ecosystems. MapPlus files are difficult to manage on desktop operating systems without dedicated iOS hardware. CADIX M-Draf files rely on the legacy Microsoft Compound container structure, meaning they require specific, expensive CAD software to open.
