About MPT files

The .mpt extension serves two distinct, high-value purposes that often confuse users.

1. Microsoft Project Template:
Most commonly, this is a "blueprint" file for Microsoft Project. It stores standard project structures, calendars, and task hierarchies to ensure consistency across new projects. The primary difficulty is proprietary lock-in: if you don't have a paid "Project Plan" license (which can cost over $50/month), you cannot natively open or view these templates.

2. Bio-Logic EC-Lab Data:
In scientific research, .mpt is an ASCII text-based data file generated by Bio-Logic potentiostats using EC-Lab software. While these files contain valuable electrochemical measurement data, they often include complex headers that make direct import into graphing software difficult.

Conversion Advice:

The MPT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MPT converter.
