Convert MPT to another file type
To convert MPT templates to another format, you need Microsoft Project or other Data software.
Convert a file to MPT
To convert other file formats to the "Template / Measurement Data" file type, you need software like Microsoft Project or a similar tool.
About MPT files
.MPT files generally serve two main purposes: Microsoft Project templates, which store baseline project plans, resource allocations, and task schedules; and EC-Lab electrochemical measurement data files from Bio-Logic, which store voltage, current, and time data from battery or corrosion experiments. A smaller subset of .MPT files are used as terrain data in Microsoft Flight Simulator. You can open Microsoft Project templates with Microsoft Project. Electrochemical data requires Bio-Logic EC-Lab software or specialized scientific parsers.
The main disadvantage of .MPT files is their proprietary and highly specific nature. A Microsoft Project template is stored in the proprietary Microsoft Compound File Binary Format, requiring an expensive subscription to open, view, or modify. EC-Lab data files are often difficult to parse without the original scientific software, trapping important research data in a niche format. Standard online converters fail to process these specialized formats because they cannot accurately render Gantt charts or parse scientific instrumentation headers.
For Microsoft Project .MPT files, the most practical conversion targets are standard MPP project files, PDF for sharing visual layouts, or CSV and XLSX for tabular data extraction. For EC-Lab data, exporting to CSV or TXT is essential for data analysis in tools like Python or OriginLab.
Because these formats are heavily structured and often proprietary, they are difficult to open or convert outside their native ecosystems. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Just drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MPT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted DA0, JLC, RDVGAME and GIF files.
FAQ
If you want to convert MPT file to GIF, INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV or PROPERTIES, you can use Microsoft Project or similar software from the "Project Template / Scientific Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to MPT, try Microsoft Project or another comparable tool in the "Project Template / Scientific Data" category.
The MPT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MPT converter.
