About MOP files
The .MOP file extension is heavily fragmented and used across multiple distinct industries. Most commonly, it functions as a Jet Database file, a JetBrains MPS model, a Pulsonix PCB Manufacturing Output, or a character morph file for the Dragon Age game engine. It also acts as an XML-based device list for MirrorOp screen mirroring software. This fragmentation is a major disadvantage. Users rarely know what application created the file, leading to confusion and errors. Depending on the source, the format might be proprietary, tightly locked binary data, or require a paid license to open. PCB outputs require expensive CAD software, while game data requires specific engine builds. Conversion targets vary completely by the source file type. Jet Database files should be exported to CSV or SQL. PCB design outputs are typically converted to .Gerber or PDF for manufacturing. Device lists can be parsed into TXT or XML. Game morphs cannot be easily converted and are bound to their specific engine. Because this file format is difficult to open or convert due to its disjointed use cases, standard online converters simply fail to process it. Often only the original software can properly read or export the specific binary data. We inspect the file signatures and can show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format like XML, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
