About MOO files

A .moo file primarily stores an Object-Oriented Model. These files hold Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams, class definitions, and application architecture mappings. Secondary uses include renamed Ogg Vorbis audio assets for the game Them's Fightin' Herds, texture build timestamps, and COW source code. The main creator and editor of these UML models is SAP PowerDesigner, an enterprise modeling tool. For the audio variant, VLC media player can play the renamed Ogg tracks. The primary disadvantage of a .moo model file is its strict software dependency. SAP PowerDesigner is expensive enterprise software, meaning most users cannot open or view the diagrams without a costly license. Sharing these models with stakeholders who lack the software is a major bottleneck. The game audio variant is merely a renamed OGG file, which confuses standard media players. Because the underlying structure of a PowerDesigner .moo file is XML, converting it to standard XML or TXT is highly recommended to extract readable metadata and code definitions.
