Extract text from WordPerfect macros and messages (MLM)

To convert other file formats to the "Macro and Email Archives" file type, you need software like Corel WordPerfect or a similar tool.
A .MLM file is primarily a macro script used by Corel WordPerfect to automate repetitive document tasks, or a saved email message exported from legacy Novell GroupWise systems. Less commonly, it serves as a MolMeccano file for Agile Molecule software.
These files are typically generated and opened using Corel WordPerfect for macro execution, or Novell GroupWise and Microsoft Outlook for reading saved email correspondence.
The main disadvantage of the .MLM format is its extreme reliance on proprietary, often legacy, software. Macro scripts are entirely useless outside the WordPerfect ecosystem. GroupWise emails use undocumented headers that trap the underlying message behind an obsolete client wall. Modern web browsers and standard office suites cannot open them natively, forcing users to maintain outdated applications or pay for expensive software just to access old archives.
If your file is a script, converting it to a standard TXT file is the best way to safely read the macro logic, though executable functionality will be lost. For saved emails, converting to RTF or PDF is recommended to preserve the text formatting and recover the message body.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it lacks public documentation and uses proprietary data structures.
