About MINIPSF files
The .MINIPSF format is a variation of the Portable Sound Format (PSF) primarily used to store ripped audio data from Sony PlayStation games. Unlike standard audio files (like MP3 or WAV), a .MINIPSF file functions similarly to a MIDI file; it contains the sequence data - instructions on which notes to play and when - but intentionally strips out the actual instrument sound samples to reduce file size. These missing samples are typically stored in a separate, shared "library" file (often with a .PSFLIB extension).
Because of this architecture, .MINIPSF files are notorious for playback errors. Users frequently encounter silence or error messages because the required companion library file is missing from the same directory, or because standard media players like Windows Media Player and Apple Music have zero native support for console emulation formats. To listen to these soundtracks on modern devices without setting up complex emulators or plugins (like components for Foobar2000), the most practical solution is conversion. For casual listening and web sharing, convert your .MINIPSF (and its library) to MP3. For archival purposes that preserve the synthesized audio quality, FLAC is the recommended target.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MINIPSF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MINIPSF file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use Audio Overload or similar software from the "Game Audio Emulation" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to MINIPSF, try Audio Overload or another comparable tool in the "Game Audio Emulation" category.
The MINIPSF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MINIPSF converter.
