About MINIPSF files
The .minipsf file format stores sequenced music ripped directly from Sony PlayStation 1 games. It is part of the Portable Sound Format (PSF) standard. Unlike standard audio files, a .minipsf does not contain pre-recorded soundwaves. Instead, it holds raw sequence data - instructions for the console's sound chip on when and how to play specific notes.
To open these files, users typically need specialized emulation players like Audio Overload or foobar2000 equipped with third-party plugins.
The main disadvantage of the .minipsf format is its rigid dependency structure. The "mini" prefix means the file has been stripped of its instrument samples to save space. It is completely useless and will not play unless the matching .psflib (library) file is located in the exact same folder. Furthermore, standard media players and smartphones cannot natively decode the PlayStation sound architecture.
For broad compatibility, you must convert these files to standard waveform formats like MP3, WAV, or FLAC. Converting an emulation format to a static audio file ensures it plays on any modern device, though you lose the theoretical ability to infinitely loop the track seamlessly without increasing file size.
Standard online converters routinely fail with .minipsf files because rendering the audio requires a built-in PlayStation sound chip emulator, not a simple codec swap. The original software or specialized plugins are often the only way to properly export the data. At convert.guru, just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view its underlying structure, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported embedded format, extraction and conversion may still be viable.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MINIPSF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The MINIPSF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MINIPSF converter.
