To convert other file formats to the "Simulation & Cache Files" file type, you need software like SolidWorks or a similar tool.
About MFC files
An .MFC file primarily functions as a simulation analysis results file generated by SolidWorks Simulation, a CAD macro folio catalog used in Allplan, or a Mail Folder Cache file created by Microsoft Outlook. It is also occasionally used as a Speech Feature File by the Hidden Markov Model Toolkit (HTK) or as a Media Foundation Container.
To properly open, view, or interact with these files, users typically need the specific software that generated them, such as SolidWorks, Allplan, or a Microsoft Exchange environment.
The main disadvantage of the .MFC format is its highly specialized, proprietary nature. As an application-specific cache or raw simulation output file, it cannot be read by standard text editors, generic file viewers, or web browsers. These files are essentially useless outside of their native software ecosystems, which creates vendor lock-in and makes collaboration extremely difficult when sharing files with clients or colleagues who do not possess expensive software licenses.
For CAD or simulation data, you cannot convert the .MFC file directly. Instead, you must open it in the native application and export the numerical results or 3D models to universal formats like CSV (for raw data), STEP, or IGES. System files like mail caches do not require conversion; they are meant to be read automatically by the email client and can usually be regenerated if deleted.
Because the .MFC format is a closed, proprietary container that serves entirely different purposes depending on the software that created it, standard online converters consistently fail to process it. Usually, only the original software can properly read or export the embedded data. However, just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, inspect the hex structure, and view any embedded text. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MFC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MFC file to QT or WPF, you can use SolidWorks or similar software from the "Simulation Data & Application Cache" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert files to MFC, try SolidWorks or another comparable tool in the "Simulation Data & Application Cache" category.
The MFC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MFC converter.
