About MD0 files

The .md0 file extension primarily represents an Alcohol Disk Image Segment 1 file. It is created by Alcohol 120% to split massive CD/DVD backup images into smaller chunks. Alternatively, an .md0 file can be an Adobe Photoshop Metadata Cache File generated by Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Bridge to store thumbnail and image metadata for faster directory loading.

Both formats are highly specialized and heavily restricted. An Alcohol .md0 segment is completely useless on its own; it requires the master MDS descriptor file and the primary MDF data file to be mounted or opened. Photoshop cache files are proprietary, system-dependent databases that frequently cause disk space bloat and are prone to corruption. Standard web browsers and basic image viewers cannot open either variant.

For disk images, the best conversion target is a unified ISO file. This provides universal support across modern operating systems without needing specialized virtual drive software. Photoshop cache files do not contain actual image data and cannot be converted to standard image formats like JPG or PNG.

This file format is difficult to open or convert because it is either a fragmented piece of a larger archive or a closed, proprietary database. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MD0 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
