About M2S files
The .M2S extension identifies two distinct file types: a Macro Script used for automating mouse and keyboard actions, or an MPEG-2 Transport Stream video.
1. Macro Automation Script (Primary)
Generated by automation software like ReMouse or Jitbit Macro Recorder, these files contain coordinate data and input logs to replicate user actions. Practical Constraints:
Proprietary Lock-in: These are not standard text files; they are often binary or encrypted, meaning you cannot edit them in Notepad++ or transfer them between different macro programs.
Execution Limits: They require the original recording software to run and are not standalone executables unless compiled.
Screen Dependency: Scripts recording absolute coordinates often fail if the screen resolution changes.
Best Conversion Targets:
To Executable: Convert to EXE using the original software's 'Compile' feature to share the automation without requiring the host program.
To Text: Some tools allow exporting to TXT or CSV for debugging coordinate data.
2. MPEG-2 Video Stream (Common)
Often created by older digital camcorders or broadcasting equipment, these are raw transport streams. Practical Constraints:
Compatibility: Most web browsers and mobile players cannot open .M2S files directly.
File Size: As uncompressed or lightly compressed streams, they are massive compared to modern formats.
Best Conversion Targets:
For General Use: Convert to MP4 (H.264) for broad compatibility with TVs, phones, and the web.
If you want to convert M2S file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use ReMouse or similar software from the "Automation Macro Script" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to M2S, try ReMouse or another comparable tool in the "Automation Macro Script" category.
The M2S Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our M2S converter.
