About M1S files

A .M1S file is a macro script primarily used by Mach3, a popular software package for controlling CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines. These scripts enable automation of specific machine tasks, such as tool changes (M6Start.m1s) or auto-zeroing probes, by executing custom logic written in Cypress Enable, a dialect of VBScript.

The frustrating part for users is that .M1S is a proprietary extension not natively recognized by Windows or macOS, meaning you cannot simply double-click to view the code. While the files contain plain text, the operating system treats them as unknown binary objects. Furthermore, editing them directly within the Mach3 environment can be cumbersome due to the limited features of the built-in editor. Users often need to convert these files to TXT to edit them in robust IDEs like Notepad++ or VS Code, or convert them to PDF for creating hard-copy documentation of machine configurations and backup archives.

Convert.Guru analyzes your M1S file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CNC, DNC and AEF files.
