About LUXB files
A .LUXB file is a custom game map file used by the turn-based strategy game Lux Delux, developed by Sillysoft. It stores essential level data, including geographical territories, borders, connection paths, and starting locations for virtual board games.
This format is strictly proprietary. It is built to be read by the Lux Delux game engine and its internal Map Editor. Because a .LUXB file contains structural coordinate data rather than standard graphical pixels, it is completely unsupported by standard image viewers, web browsers, and traditional document software. Users often hit a wall when trying to share a visual preview of their custom map or attempting to batch-edit territory values without opening the game.
To bypass these limitations, users attempt to convert .LUXB files to XML or TXT to rapidly edit territory logic using external code editors. Some also want to convert them to PNG or JPG to share map layouts online.
This file format is difficult to convert visually. Standard online converters fail because they lack the proprietary Sillysoft rendering engine required to turn coordinate data into a visual map. Even without the game engine, our system can inspect the .LUXB file structure to extract underlying text data, internal XML variables, or embedded map thumbnails for immediate viewing.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LUXB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LUXB file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Lux Delux or similar software from the "Game Map Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The LUXB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LUXB converter.
