Convert LSL to another file type
To convert LSL Layouts and scripts to another format, you need LiveSplit or other Settings software.
Convert a file to LSL
To convert other file formats to the "Speedrun Timer Layout File" file type, you need software like LiveSplit or a similar tool.
About LSL files
.LSL files primarily serve three distinct purposes: layout configurations for the LiveSplit speedrun timer, disc label designs for obsolete HP LightScribe drives, and scripting files for Second Life.
LiveSplit uses XML-based .LSL files to store user interface configurations like timer colors, window positions, and fonts. LightScribe Template Labeler uses them as design templates for etching monochromatic graphics directly onto the top of CDs and DVDs. Second Life relies on the Linden Scripting Language to dictate in-world object behaviors and interactions.
These formats share significant real-world limitations. LiveSplit layouts are application-specific and do not contain the actual split times. LightScribe is defunct hardware technology, making it practically impossible to render the images without tracking down legacy software and compatible optical drives. Second Life scripts are proprietary and cannot execute outside the game engine's servers. Users often need a workaround just to read the raw text or rescue old label data.
The best conversion targets for .LSL files are XML or TXT. Changing the file to a standard text format allows you to review the raw data and script logic without installing the original software, though all visual interface formatting will be lost.
Because these are heavily application-specific formats, standard online converters usually fail to process them into visual formats like PDF or JPG. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. convert.guru can inspect the file, extract the underlying XML or plain text, and allow you to view the internal contents safely.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LSL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted ISI, LSS, JPG, LTM and ZAR files.

The LSL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LSL converter.
