About LOK files

The .lok file is a proprietary data container primarily used for two completely different purposes. It functions as either a Geodetic localization data file generated by SBG Systems hardware, or as a Temperature data logger file created by LogTag Recorders. In the mapping and surveying industry, SBG Systems uses this format to store Source2 internal localization data. In the logistics and medical cold-chain sectors, the LogTag Analyzer software uses the .lok extension to log temperature fluctuations over time. The main disadvantage of the .lok format is its proprietary, closed nature. These files cannot be opened by standard text editors, web browsers, or basic spreadsheet software. You must have the specific vendor software installed, which creates a frustrating bottleneck when you need to share sensor data with external clients or auditors. To make this data accessible, users typically need to convert .lok files into standard, open formats like CSV, XML, or TXT. However, because this file format is difficult to open or convert, standard online tools usually fail to parse the binary or encoded data. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the raw sensor measurements.
